Badrinarayan "Badri" Chaturvedi heads previous illustrious group of Varanasi whose hereditary castle is accepted to be spooky by the phantom of Manjulika, a traditional artist from Bengal. Siddharth, child of Badri's senior sibling, and his classicist spouse Avni, return to the castle from the United States. Siddharth's life as a youngster old flame and Badri's taken on girl Radha is crushed by this marriage.

Avni fosters an interest in the legend of Manjulika. The Chaturvedis' progenitor, King Vibhuti Narayan, was charmed by Manjulika, an artist in his court. Manjulika cherished Shashidhar, one more artist of the court. The evening of Durgashtami, the lord, who had learned of their illicit relationship, freely executes Shashidhar and detains Manjulika.
